Medicare Supplement Plan
What is a Medicare Supplement Plan?
The Basics
Plus:
- You have several options to choose from all of which offers different benefits that it covers.
- It allows you to choose your own Medicare-approved hospitals — A referral is not needed by us, but always check with Medicare to see if service is covered or needs a referral.
- Even if you move or travel within the U.S., your coverage stays with you.
- If you have open enrollment or guaranteed issue rights, your coverage is guaranteed — there are no health questions to answer.
Know the Best Time to Buy
The best time is during your Open Enrollment Period. Generally, it begins on the first day of the month in which you turn 65 or you are enrolled in Medicare Part B (persons eligible for Medicare due to disability may also qualify for open enrollment for Medicare Supplement insurance regardless of age). It lasts for six months, and you cannot be turned down during this time. After this period, your options may be limited.
